Celebrating Father’s Day With Some Rocking El Paso Dads
Every Sunday afternoon, from 5 to 7pm, 95.5 KLAQ brings you two hours of the latest national rock releases & we put the spotlight on tons of local rock from El Paso & around the Borderland: Q-Connected.
This week, Q Connected falls on Father's Day so to celebrate, we're going to play bands that HAVE rocking dads! Bands like Las Cruces's Cordova, their lead singer George & guitarist Scott are both proud dads & also one half of the cover band The Ghetto Blaster.
We'll hear some dads who not only have a band of their own, but their kids are also musicians: We'l hear from the Camachos: Alexis the guitarist from Nothingtown & his daughter Natalia is the bassist for The ReVamps and she has her own band, Artcrusher (whom we'll hear from this week),
Alex Camacho [Nothingtown][/caption]We have the jazz/rock bassist Chantal Camus & her dad, Germaine, who is the lead singer for the ska punk band Los Paps on the show,
And our final rocking father/daughter duo we have is Audrey & Arturo Villalobos. We'll hear a song from each of their musical projects for Sunday too.
We also a band that I'm very familiar with: Full Bloom. A band that consisted of Mike Anaya, Adan Mares, Vince Lotito & MY dad, Mark Paulus.
They were played a long time ago when Rick Madrigal (R.I.P.) interviewed them back in 2011 for the KLAQ Balloonfest. 10 years later, they'll be played again on the Q for Q Connected. And there's much more local rock on the show.
We will also hear the brand new song from Jackyl, who have been rocking for over 30 years & put out a new song this month called "Get Up All In It". You might have seen their lead singer Jesse James Dupree on the History channel series, The Booze, Bets & Sex That Built America.
Join me for Q Connected, Sunday afternoons 5-7pm, on 95.5 KLAQ
