Artists Who Named Albums After Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas

Texas has no shortage of recording studios; especially if you go to El Paso. The one studio that many artists love to go to is located just 45 minutes outside of town called Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas. Plenty of artists have recorded out there & made some truly amazing records. Some artists loved recording out at Sonic Ranch so much, they decided to actually name their entire albums AFTER Sonic Ranch.

Midland

The country group from Dripping Springs, Texas not only filmed a documentary that would air on the CMT channel, the soundtrack would be recorded on the album titled The Sonic Ranch. Even the music videos would show the band recording & just having a good time at the studio.

Gregg Rolie

Yes THAT Gregg Rolie, the same Gregg Rolie who sang lead vocals for both Santana & co-founded Journey. He would record his 2019 solo album at Sonic Ranch (the first one in 18 years), an album that would feature such stars like Alan Haynes & fellow Journey member Neal Schon. Whitey Morgan

From Flint, Michigan, the country group Whitey Morgan & the 78s went to Sonic Ranch to record their 2015 album. Some of his popular tunes include "Waitin' Round to Die" & "Me & the Whiskey"

The Sloppy Boys

And finally on our list we have the LA comedy group, The Sloppy Boys. The group were the main topic behind Robert Holguin's documentary "Blood, Sweat & Beers", they would named their album after Sonic Ranch studios & would perform some of those songs in town after the 2023 El Paso Film Festival.

Honorable Mentions:

While Palestine Texas' Whiskey Myers didn't name their 2022 album directly after Sonic Ranch, they DID name it after the city Tornillo where the Sonic Ranch studios are located. So I felt deserved a mention here.

Another quick mention goes to Pittsburgh Texas' Koe Wetzel. His 2022 album, Hell Paso, was recorded out at Sonic Ranch & Koe even recorded & released live versions of certain songs live FROM the studios.
