Just 40 minutes outside of El Paso in nearby Tornillo, Texas lies our most famous recording studio that musicians love to record: Sonic Ranch. For years it has been the home for huge names in the worlds of rock, pop, country, etc. Recently one rock band recorded & released this year that has been nominated for the 2025 Grammys.
Which album recorded at Sonic Ranch is nominated for a Grammy?
If you search on the full list of 2025 Grammy Nominations for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, if you go under the category for "Best Alternative Music Performance". Here you have the new albums from St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Fontaines D.C., Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds & Cage the Elephant. The latter's album was yes, recorded at Sonic Ranch studios.
It took 5 long years but Cage the Elephant would released their 6th album, Neon Pill, on May 17, 2024 with the help of producer John Hill. The album produced 4 singles including the title track, "Out Loud", "Good Time", & "Metaverse".
Of course there are many other familiar names from Texas nominated at the Grammys like Beyoncé & Post Malone.
This isn't the first time that someone recorded at Sonic Ranch & won a Grammy for their album; Natalie LaFourcade won the Grammy for "Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album" for her album "De Todos Las Flores" at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. You can see Sonic Ranch congratulate on their official Instagram page here.
We will see if Cage the Elephant wins the Grammy in 2025 (they've done it before!), but we do know this: Sonic Ranch HAS given us some award winning albums in the past so it's possible they will do it again very soon.
