Think of your favorite band or your favorite artist... I bet you that if YOU had the chance to meet them, you'd think that's one of the best days of your life. Some of us get lucky to meet our favorite celebrities; some are even luckier getting to WORK with them. One El Paso fan got to do just that with Metallica a couple years ago & he's a good buddy of mine: Edgar Rodriguez.

Back in 2016, Metallica released many music videos from their (at the time- NEW album) Hardwired...To Self-Destruct album. I was able to ask Edgar on how the hell he got to be featured in a Metallica music video. He explained that a while back they put an open casting to be featured in a music video. Fans had to send some selfies to an email & the winners were chosen at random.

THIS was the selfie he sent in that won him that casting spot:

He was flown out to Oakland, California for the shoot, which began on October 12th. But Edgar got to be on the same set with James, Lars, Kirk & Robert at the SAME TIME.

The whole video shoot took about 6 hours. When you watch the video, he doesn't show up just once. He shows up quite a few times.

So... what the song that he was featured on? This one: Halo on Fire. See how many times you can spot Edgar in the video.

Now if it's too hard to spot him in the video, he sent in a couple of stills of him in the music video; proving that he WAS in the video.

My personal favorite is this one: where Edgar is literally just mere FEET away from James Hetfield.

I asked if anyone else joined him in the video. He said he was the sole fan from El Paso. Everyone else was from Oakland, so he in fact was the only one who got to represent El Paso in the video.

Now I'm thankful I got to see Metallica in town back in 2019. That's something I'll never forget. But I have to say... I'm extremely jealous but happy that someone who is a HUGE fan of Metallica, got to be part of such an incredible experience. Not many people can say "Hey! I was in a music video!", let alone for your favorite band!

Way to represent El Paso Edgar!
