Steve Martin is no stranger to combining music and comedy. Just remember King Tut.

Martin has also been a lifelong banjo player. He even won a Grammy for his first solo music album The Crow: New Songs for the 5-Sting Banjo back in 2009.

He always incorporated music into his comedy, but it has really been since the year 2000 that he's stepped away from acting and focused more on his banjo, working with various acts, including Earl Scruggs. The two of them won the Best Country Instrumental Performance Grammy in 2002 for their song Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

Martin also has a couple of Grammy wins for his comedy albums Let's Get Small (1978) and A Wild and Crazy Guy (1979). He's also been on or hosted Saturday Night Live 19 times. If you weren't familiar with it, you might think he was a member of the cast, but he wasn't.

The only person to technically host SNL most times than Martin is Alec Baldwin, who has hosted 17 times, compared to the 15 times Martin has hosted. Martin most recently played Roger Stone in an episode of SNL back in 2019.
