4 different singers sang for Van Halen and one of them, Mitch Malloy, posted a new video for a previously unheard Van Halen song featuring a KLAQ cameo.

Van Halen formed in 1973 though the Van Halen brothers were calling themselves Genesis, then Mammoth, in 1972. Both those names were already taken, hence the name change to Van Halen.

In 1978, with David Lee Roth on vocals and Michael Anthony on bass, the Van Halen brothers released their 1st album and set out to conquer the world. Guitar-wise, Eddie certainly did.

In 1985, Roth left the band to do his own thing and the brothers brought Sammy Hagar into the fold. He quit in 1996, replaced by former Extreme vocalist, Gary Cherone.

In between though, very briefly, Mitch Malloy had the VH frontman gig and he co-wrote a song with Eddie that was never acknowledged, let alone released.

A little angry about being written out of the Van Halen history books, Mitch released the song ... coincidentally just as Alex released the last song he and Eddie wrote together ... saying he needed to set the record straight. He told Ultimate Guitar:

Instead of being celebrated as Van Halen's first choice to replace Sam, I'm left with sticking up for myself. It's not right and it's not fair to me."

Giving himself credit for being cool about the whole situation, (read more here), he added:

I wish no one knew, to be honest. But since they do, they should be able to hear the result. You're welcome."

Mitch has now released the song with a video collage of photos from his time with Van Halen. I don't know who put the video together but, for some reason, a KLAQ banner pops up in it about 1:25 in. I triple swear, it wasn't any of us that put it there.
