El Paso has got a lot to be proud of already, now a couple of El Paso schools have added to our accolades.

Two El Paso schools beat out schools from all over west Texas for the top honors in a ranking released by Children at Risk. The research and advocacy group studies schools all across Texas. According to their website:

We use research and data to understand the needs of Texas children and their families. This research drives our advocacy agenda and helps us develop evidence-based policy recommendations.

Our news partners at KVIA reported that Children At Risk studied over 600 schools – 129 high schools, 171 middle schools, and 334 elementary schools - to compile its list of the top schools in west Texas, and 2 of the top 3 are located right here in El Paso.

Silva Magnet School, part of the El Paso Independent School District was named the top high school in west Texas. The Young Women’s Leadership Academy, in the Ysleta Independent School District, was named the top middle school. The top elementary school honor went to Carver Center Elementary in Midland.

This comes after several El Paso area schools were given a special accreditation ... the "Purple Campus" award ... by the United States Military. On top of that, El Paso has earned several other honors over the years including being one of the sunniest cities in America, one of the safest, having one of the safest university campuses, and being one of the best places to work from home.
