After numerous complaints, stopped selling an "Anne Frank" costume. 

I would agree with pulling a Halloween costume making fun of and/or trying to sexualize a figure like Anne Frank.  Here are a couple of things to consider about this one though:

  • 1) They have labeled it as "World War II Evacuee". There's no mention of Anne or any other holocaust related imagery or wording.
  • 2) Young girls like to dress up as women they find inspiring or admire. Many see Anne Frank, and her strength during her ordeal, as heroic.
  • 3) It isn't one of those "adult" costumes, sexualizing the character like "hot nurse" or "hot policewoman".
