What is the Greatest Rock Song Intro?
This is something I've been thinking about for awhile, so I posed the question online. "What is the greatest rock song intro of all time?"
I have a few that make the top of my list.
Those are my big 3.
- AC/DC - Thunderstruck
- Pantera - Mouth for War
- Jimi Handrix - All Along the Watchtower
Here are some of the other responses from people over on Reddit.
- Dire Straits - Money for Nothing (I wholeheartedly agree with this one)
- Pink Floyd - Time
- Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears
- Dio - Holy Diver

There's something about my top 3 that gets me going every damn time. If I need to get motivated for a workout, or if I'm in a funk and need a pick me up, those songs do it right out of the gate. From that first note I get goosebumps.
A conversation about Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven even popped up in this thread with someone adding:
Like I understand why it's the forbidden riff. But take away all stigma to it and honestly it is a gorgeous rock intro that just can make you feel all sorts of ways. Even if it isn't complicated to play, that riff is magical. That being said, I don't want to hear it played at any music store lol
Of course, the intro to Stairway to Heaven isn't the most original, depending on who ask.
