Saturday's contest between UTEP and Southern Miss has been postponed after the Golden Eagles experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases, per a release.

Both universities and the league will work on rescheduling the game for a later date in the season. Earlier this week, C-USA pushed back its championship game two weeks to Dec. 18 to allow for makeup weeks. The Miners could pick up the Golden Eagles in early December as a possible make-up date.

“While we are disappointed that we won’t be able to play this weekend, the health and safety of everyone involved is always the top priority,” UTEP Director of Athletics Jim Senter said.  “We wish everyone at Southern Miss a quick recovery and hope to reschedule this game for later in the season in consultation with Conference USA.”

“We are concerned about the Southern Miss team and hope they get healthy and return to play soon,” UTEP coach Dana Dimel said.  “We were excited to play our first home game in a month.  We’ll set our sights on next week’s game at Charlotte and trying to get a good road victory for our football team.”

All tickets for the Oct. 17 game will be valid for the rescheduled date, per UTEP athletics.

UTEP (3-2) will resume action next Saturday at Charlotte in Jerry Richardson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 10 AM mountain standard time.
