Less than 24 hours after the Miners suffered a meltdown in the final minutes, losing 74-66 (OT) in their C-USA opener, the team found redemption by dominating the Golden Eagles, 77-62, on Saturday and splitting the series.
The Miners, who have won just two games in the last three seasons (2-34), were ranked dead last (76 of 76) in the CBS Sports college football rankings list.
The latest college football casualty is New Mexico State, which announced early Thursday morning that the program will postpone the fall season to spring due to "COVID player health & safety concerns as well as 14-day quarantine requirement when traveling back into (New Mexico)."
