The UTEP Miners Just Put Us In Charge

El Paso fans of the UTEP Miners get to call the shots this season. Well, for their "Innovation Day" game against San Jose State anyway.

The UTEP Miners take on San Jose State Saturday ... for the first time ever, all the Miner home games will be played on Saturday this season ... October 17th. If you've ever gone to a game wishing it had started at this time or that time, this year you may get your wish. UTEP is letting fans set the games start time.

For the UTEP Vs. San Jose game, the Miners are letting fans decide on a bunch of stuff around the game, including the start time. Kick - off could be at 1pm, 2pm, 4pm or 7pm, (MST), depending on how we vote between now and July 1st. Cast your vote here.

Why UTEP Is Letting Fans Decide Things

“In the spirit of innovation and with a Fan-First mentality in mind, we’d like for our fans to set the time for the game,” UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter said.  “This is the first step in providing a more interactive experience for Miner Nation when we take on our old WAC rivals, the Spartans!”  - KVIA

What Else Can Fans Vote On?

Apparently, UTEP is going to let us decide several things to create a more interactive experience. I don't know exactly what, beyond the kickoff time, but here are a few things I'd like them to let us vote on:

• Cheerleader Uniforms - Orange 'n blue bikinis, maybe?
• Beer Prices - 2 beers for less than the price of a case would rock, huh?
• Free Parking - That one's gonna be unanimous.

One more: Lose the clear, minimum size bag policy. Ladies, am I right?
