Remembering the Texas Rangers’ World Series Runs
It's official: after beating the Houston Astros in Game 7, the Texas Rangers out of Dallas/Fort Worth will be going back to their 3rd World Series appearance, the first time in over a decade. As they get ready to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series, let's look back at the last two times they went.
The first time the Texas Rangers went to the World Series was in 2010
In the 50th season as a team, the Texas Rangers would make their very first World Series appearance during the 2010 season. They would beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 in the AL Division Series & the New York Yankees 4-2 in the AL Championship Series.
The Rangers would end up facing off against the San Francisco Giants in the World Series. After losing the first 2 games, the Rangers would win Game 3, but it wouldn't be enough. The Rangers would lose in Game 5 in Arlington, giving the Giants their 6th World Series win. The Rangers would finish the series with a 90-72 record.
However next year, the team would seek for revenge.
The Texas Rangers would return to the World Series in 2011
The very next year, the Rangers would face off against the Rays again in the AL Division Series. This time winning 3-1. Their Championship Series opponent this time would be the Detroit Tigers. The Rangers would also win in Game 6, punching their ticket for their 2nd straight World Series appearance.
The Rangers would NOT face off against the Giants this year; their opponent were the St Louis Cardinals. This battle was much closer & much more intense this time around; the Rangers would win Games 2, 4 & 5. But it would be the Cardinals getting the win, winning their 11th World Series in Game 7.
As of right now, the Rangers have come close but have yet to win their 1st World Series.
Fun fact; there are two EP Chihuahuas playing FOR the Texas Rangers as well; Austin Hedges & Travis Jankowski.
Will the 3rd time be the charm? Starting Friday we will see if Dallas will finally get their first World Series win.
