I'm now home from Austin after spending several days with Buzz, Teresa and Duke, stalking celebrities and bands and bringing the performances inside our SXSW studio to you in El Paso. It was a whirlwind of a trip, check out my play-by-play of events:

Plane lands in Austin! Buzz and Teresa meet me at baggage claim and Buzz convinces me I don't need a GPS in my rental car because his brain is the GPS. After letting him persuade me, we only got lost an estimated number of 172 times.

  • 4:10 p.m.

Arrive at the Four Seasons to set up for Thursday's Morning Show, meet up with Duke. I'm very happy to be reunited with the crew after not being in El Paso for more than a month and excited to pop my SXSW cherry!!

Buzz, Teresa and I wander off to explore downtown Austin and SXSW! I'm excited to take it all in, but quickly find myself trailing Buzz as he meanders around a haberdashery (hat store). (Check out pictures here)

After dragging Buzz from the haberdashery, we FINALLY set off to explore SXSW a bit. We wander the streets, people watching and there's some people to watch, with my personal favorite being the dude in a Fleshlight costume wandering the streets with a gal with a pair of knockers that would have made Scott Ronson drool.

After wandering until our feet are sore, we decide to skip the lines at the downtown restaurants and head to eat closer to the hotel. Except remember how the GPS lives in Buzz's head? Yeah. Apparently the GPS downloaded in his head likes the scenic route and comes with the sexist narrator who constantly reminds you how crappy your driving is because you have a vagina. (He's right, I'm a crappy driver.)

After endless searching for a place to eat, you'd think we find something fabulous, right? Stripmall sushi, it is, with Buzz trying to convince Teresa and I that Jose Conseco was dining with his kids behind us.

  • 9:30 p.m.

To our hotel, where I intended to settle in and head out to check out some shows, but I'm such a party-hard rockstar, I fell asleep fully dressed, facedown on my bed completely sober. Someone slow my roll before I get confused with Lindsay Lohan!!!

  • 4:15 a.m.

Holy sh&t!! Why is my alarm going off at 4:15 a.m.?!? Why am I lying facedown fully dressed? Why am I not hungover? What's the meaning of life? I meet Buzz and Teresa in the hotel lobby and we head over to the Four Seasons, where we meet up with Duke.

  • 7 a.m. (Austin Time)

We're live on the air! Man, watching these guys do their show is always awesome, even more so from one of the coolest music festivals in the world.

Our first guest, El Paso's own Dirty River Boys, stop by. I hope their performance sounded as good on the radio as it did sitting across from them because they were amazing. Did you miss it? No worries, we have pictures AND video.

Show is over. Phew. This is when I'm busiest, working to get all the photos and videos I took during the interviews up on KLAQ.com while updating the KLAQ Twitter and Facebook pages to help you guys feel like you're in Austin with us. We wish you were, all of you!

After working hard all morning, we're finally off to lunch. Sorry, Buzz, after a long morning of tweeting, creating status updates and posting videos, these feet need to be up.

  • 3 p.m.

Sufficiently fed, we head back to the Four Seasons, where we bust out a few more hours of work. Being that they have to be up early for Friday's show, Buzz, Teresa and Duke head back to the hotel to get some shut eye, I stay on, getting stuff up on the SXSW page of KLAQ.com.

I head out solo, ready to explore some shows and witness some of the weirdness SXSW has to offer. I wander down to Sixth Street, taking photos all along the way (Check them out!!) The partying is going strong and I quickly meet some strangers who suggest I go to a show with them. With no real plans or agenda, I'm in. I'm really digging how friendly people at the festival, and Texas, are. You don't get that kind of friendliness from strangers in New York. The group I'm with picks up more people along the way, including two sexy members of the band Vanity Theft, who invite us to their show later in the night. Downtown Austin is insane, with thousands of people dancing in the streets, popping in and out of the hundreds of shows going on, playing music on the street corners.

I part ways with my new group of friends and set off with the intention of checking out some of the comedy going down at SXSW, but am quickly adopted by another group who insist I check out shows with them. We wander in and out of several shows before ending up at The Lustre Pearl, where my new friend finagles me a VIP bracelet to get into the packed show of Miike Snow, who I admittedly had never heard of before. I was the only one in the crowd who hadn't heard of the Swedish band before, apparently, and everyone packed in close waiting for him to come on. The show was worth the wait.

  • 1:30 a.m.

The thought of my 4:15 wakeup call is daunting and I decide to head back to the hotel. Except remember how the GPS lives in Buzz's head? Buzz, at this point, is soundly asleep and forgot to leave his head with me. I try navigating my way back to the hotel, except one problem: I don't know the hotel's address. No problem! I have Google on my phone (which has 9 percent battery at this point.) I Google the hotel and find out there's four La Quintas in the Austin area. I put the address that sounds the most familiar into my phone and set off on my way. I get severely lost heading to that address, and find it about an hour later, only to find out that I'm at the wrong La Quinta!

    Friday, March 16

  • 3:15 a.m.

I FINALLY find the right hotel. I collapse on the bed, and take a power nap before the alarm goes off less than an hour later. Ouch! I drag my zombie-like self into the shower, get dressed and meet Teresa and Buzz in the hotel lobby.

  • 7 a.m. (Austin time)

And we're live! After almost not making it on the air because of technical issues, our friends at the Four Seasons pull through for us. Being on the air with Buzz, Duke, Teresa and Monster is way too much fun.

Super sexy sisters The Pierces stop by the KLAQ Morning Show. These girls are not only incredibly beautiful, even more so in person, but incredibly funny and talented. If you missed it, we have video!

The legendary Dr. John stops by!! Have I mentioned that I love my job? Because I do. Dr. John is incredible and his interview is fantastic, with him talking about New Orleans, the state there after Hurriane Katrina, and giving up playing guitar after being shot in the hand. He also told Buzz that he could see pain in his eyes. (We have the entire interview here in case you missed it!)

The band The Features, who have a song featured in the Ford Mustang commercial stop by. They perform two songs and talk about how they were booted from their last label after refusing to perform a Beatles song for a commercial. Talk about integrity! Check out their performance and interview here!

Show is done and it's time to pack up and get to the airport. While Duke is staying on to capture more of the fun (check out his run-in with a presidential candidate!), Buzz and Teresa have to get back to El Paso and I'm back to New York. It's been fun, Austin. SXSW cherry = popped. Hopefully I'll be back to join the team again next year. Check out all of our SXSW coverage on our SXSW page, with more great stuff to be added!
