There have been so many covers of this "Call Me Maybe" song floating around, it's getting really obnoxious. Everyone and their dog has done a cover version. There's even a version out using dialog from the Star Wars movies! So I've gathered some heavy cover versions of some other pop songs that I really like for you to enjoy! I can almost guarantee you that there's at least one you haven't heard.

If you want to hear some cool metal versions of "Call Me Maybe", check out this post I did a few weeks ago.

1. Children of Bodom - Oops I Did It Again (Britney, bitch!)

Up first, one of the more recent covers, and one that's gotten some play already, so you've probably heard it before and wondered, "What the hell is THAT?" Check out their CD Skeletons in the Closet for some more great covers, including a great cover of Pat Benatar's "Hell is For Children".

2. Cradle of Filth - Temptation (Heaven 17)

Cradle of Filth is one of those bands you either love or hate. They bring all the schlock and vaudeville you can imagine (and more) to the black metal scene. Their live shows are crazy and filled with all the stuff you'd expect to see. They've done a few covers, but this one is really good, and makes the song actually enjoyable, as opposed to the original.

3. Yngwie Malmsteen - Gimme Gimme Gimme (Abba)

Yngwie has had his share of everything, the ridiculous highs, the abysmal lows, the donuts. The high-kicking shredder even has done some crazy covers, from classical to Ozzy, Kansas (don't talk to me about the cover of "Carry On Wayward Son") and even this Abba gem.

4. Mushroomhead - Crazy (Seal)

I figured I'd throw in a fun Mushroomhead cover, since they just visited town and played a couple amazing shows this weekend, one at the Texas Tattoo Showdown, and the other at the Holiday Inn Airport. It's a great cover, and you can sing along with Seal to make your girlfriend think you're actually a fan. Maybe it'll help you get some.

5. Blind Guardian - Mr. Sandman (The Chordettes)

I've been a huge Blind Guardian fan for a long time now, and they've got some amazing music out there, and some incredible covers (check out their cover of "The Wizard" from Uriah Heep). If you like huge, epic metal with amazing vocals, this is the band to check out. They also have their CD The Forgotten Tales, which has a bunch of covers and reworked stuff from their early years.

6. Twilight Guardians - La Isla Bonita (Madonna)

Last but definitely not least, here's the one you've probably not heard before. Sadly, I discovered this band about a year before they disbanded, so no more Twilight Guardians music to come, but you can still enjoy this cover version of Madonna.
