Diners, Drive-ins and Dives recently filmed several episodes in El Paso. Last Friday's episode featured my friend Ruli and his restaurant, Rulis' International Kitchen. To celebrate, Ruli held a private viewing party ... check out the pics!

Now, some "food" for thought from Ruli:

You all know the true character and personality of our city lies in local businesses. The soul and flavor of the city is not found in national chains, it’s in the mom and pop’s with locals that put their hearts into what they do every day. Guy and the Food Network know this too and I'm so proud to have been featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. You all put us on the map and I can't say thank you enough. Cheers everyone!

Rulis' is family owned and family operated so he knows all too well the struggle of maintaining a local business. All the construction is affecting locals everywhere and Ruli himself considered closing at one point. That would have been terrible because, as Ruli said, it's all about the locals.
