North Mesa between the University of Texas at El Paso and Executive Center is seeing some growth with new businesses recently opening and a few more under construction.

From a new burrito place to a car wash to a cantina (y cocina), here are some of the new businesses I spotted on a recent drive along the two-mile stretch of road.

Dutch Bros opened a west side location in June near UTEP in the spot Bush's Chicken once stood in June.

Like the others around El Paso that opened before it, the North Mesa location has a double drive-thru lane, a walk-up window, and an outdoor seating area perfect for UTEP students who need a caffeine boost.

Amar Peruvian + Mexican Kitchen is another recently opened entry near the university. The new bistro recently merged with the Don Carbon located in the Albertson’s parking lot (same building, same owners), but the merger people can’t stop raving about are the flavors of Peru and Mexico that you get in every one of their dishes.

Additionally, Village Inn next to UTEP reopened after a year-long closure, albeit with limited hours. For the time being, this VI location is only open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

New: Cazares Burritos

Cazares Burritos just opened its third El Paso location in the building catty-corner to Whataburger that used to be a Tacos Don Cucos.

Offerings at the new eatery include tortas, quesadillas, and burritos with 40 different kinds of fillings to choose from. And very student-friendly menu prices.

New: Mister Car Wash

Mister Car Wash just opened between Village Inn and Pizza Hut in the spot that used to be a Taco Tote. This is its 17th El Paso location, for now.

Coming: La Coa Cocina

Per a banner on the building across the street from Hope & Anchor, La Coa Cocina y Cantina is "coming" soon.

This will be the second El Paso location for the "Mexican cantina specializing in Tequila and Mezcal...with a mix of modern yet authentic (Mexican) food." The first is on Montana.

Coming: Ray’s Philly Steaks

Ray's Philly Steaks, which promises future patrons "a taste of Philadelphia" and "original Philly steaks," is moving in next to Supreme Laundromat at 4108 N. Mesa.

From it's menu to the Philadelphia sports team mural that highlights the Eagles, the restaurants is all about The City of Brotherly Love.

As a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan in the great state of Texas I'm appalled. But as a lover of cheesesteaks I'm willing to overlook the disrespect.
