This Once Popular Strip Joint is Now a Place of Worship

This originally had started out as a series of "places I used to hang out at that are now a a church". I started by sharing that Bowlero Lanes in Northeast El Paso is now a church.

It was a pretty cool bowling alley, and when I turned 21 I was able to hang out at the bar, it was a bit seedy but I was 21 and I just thought it was cool that I was at a bar!

But this series has now taken a turn, because so many people called in and messaged us on the Morning Show to inform me that another "gem" where some would have a fun time is now a church!

If there's one thing I know about El Paso is "expect the unexpected"! One day it might be snowing, the next day it could be 70 degrees! So it should come as no surprise that the former Lamplighter Lounge is now a place of worship!

Now, I never was a patron at the Lamplighter Lounge, but I did pass by it and I'm surprised to see that they kept the original structure, as well as the sign! How do I know that's the original sign? Because on Google Maps, if you look behind this sign you will see what the sign originally said!

The sign may say "nude" but many messaged me to let me know that it was topless. Since I was never a patron of the Lamplighter, I didn't intend on writing about this establishment, but so many called in and messaged in that I felt I needed to write this, in the event that you need to inform former El Pasoans that this strip club is now a Church!

I'm not entirely sure when the Lamplighter closed down, but it doesn't seem like I missed out on much because as one of our chatters said:

Lamplighter was a place you’d walk in…..and walk right out!

I have one more establishment in this "places I used to hang out at that are now a church" and that one was a complete shock to me. Stay tuned.
