Summer's in El Paso can be brutal (cue the Olivia Rodrigo song). The triple digits surely have many of us looking for ways to cool of- whether it be by stopping by one of the splash pads available throughout the city, or by getting creative with our snacks.

We all know by now that in El Paso, we don't do basic snacks, there's always a way to get creative when it comes to our food here. Which is why when I stumbled across this video on TikTok of this pepino split, I was shook! Check it out below:

The pepino (cucumber) split is a very creative spin on the regular banana split, except here, you replace the banana with a cucumber; and instead of vanilla ice cream, it looks like you use nieve de garrafa, which is basically like a sorbet. In this video, they top it simply with some Tajin and some chamoy (which would act as the chocolate syrup usually used in a banana split). As I looked into it, I learned that you can get way more creative with it- the possibilities are endless, really!

You can add jicama, more cucumber, some tamarind candy, Japanese peanuts and even some Salsaghetti!

Look, I am a fan of the regular banana split, don't get me wrong; however, this take on the split looks hella refreshing! The combination of the sorbet ice cream with the cucumber and other toppings is sure to be a refreshing way to beat the heat this summer!

Now, the challenge will be to see where we can find this in El Paso. The videos some from a place called "La Michoacana" in California, but I know we have a place with the same name here in EP. Either way, I'm sure some local place here would totally be down to make it!
