Halloween is upon us so here's another top 5 list designed to fit the "spirit" of the season.

KLAQ is giving away a trip to Las Vegas to see Five Finger Death Punch. To enter, you need to listen for special code words Monday - Friday at, (approximately), 10:15am, 2:15pm and 5:15pm. Enter the codes via the KLAQ mobile app and cross your fingers.

In honor of that, I've been doing "Top 5" lists and this one ties in the "Death" part of FFDP, the Halloween spirit and some famous peeps I had the pleasure of meeting and/or working with who are no longer with us.

Cliff Burton.  Ok, I didn't exactly "meet" him ... I just sorta high fived him as he and the rest of Metallica passed me, heading off stage at a small club called the Big Apple. (Don't look for it ... it's LONG gone.)

Dimebag Darrell. I met him once in the Pantera days and then again in the Damageplan era ... and it was a PARTY both times. This photo was  taken while Pantera were on the Great Southern Trendkill tour.

Vinnie Paul. I met Vinnie for the first time the same night that Dimebag photo was taken. We lost Dime way too early but Vinnie was around for awhile and I got to work ... and party ... with him a number of times, especially throughout the Hellyeah days.

Charlie Quintana. I first met Charlie when he was in the Cruzados, then again during his Social Distortion days. (He played with many others.) Over time, we got to be pretty good friends but I have only the memories, his card and a couple of autographs to remember him by. The few photos of us that were taken, sadly, have been lost.

Michael Walker. One of the friendliest and coolest people I ever met. (Which, honestly,  pretty much applies to the entire Aranda band and crew.) I remember holding his wallet for him once so he could take a turn on the log ride at Western Playland and  scouring Wet 'n Wild looking for his missing cajon. Always something fun ... or funny ... with him.

Gone but not forgotten. I'm sure heaven got a lot more lively once these guys showed up.
