El Paso Chihuahuas 2022 Home Opener: What To Know Before You Go

The El Paso Chihuahuas are kicking off their home opener tonight, Tuesday, April 12, at Southwest University Park, and there are a few things to know before you go.

The El Paso Chihuahuas are taking on the Oklahoma City Dodgers over 6-games beginning tonight during the home opener at Southwest University Park.

But, before fans head out for a good time with Chico, The Chihuahua and the rest of the team should be aware of a few things like where to park, the bag policy, and a few other new things for the season.

New In 2022

This year fans will notice the new Musco Stadium Light System, which reduces energy costs and can flash and change colors while choreographed to music. Other additions include the Week Promotions of Wine & 9 Wednesday with $4 single serve wines, half-priced wine bottles, a $9 rotating menu, and Sunday Funday Seltzers for $5 for each 12oz seltzer in assorted flavors.

New Menu

Fans will find over fifteen new menu items to choose from, including instant favorites such as the Chile Relleno Burger and Hot Dog, Mac n Cheese BBQ Pulled Pork Bowl, and the addition of ice cream treats from Sundaes to cones. Click HERE for more details.

Cashless Facility

This year, fans will notice that the venue has converted into a cashless venue, increasing service speed and eliminating cash handling. Southwest University Park will only accept the following modes of payment: 

• Major credit and debit cards - no cash
• Tickets can be preloaded with cash at the Durango and Santa Fe Box Offices, food and beverage locations, and the Chihuahuas and Locomotive Team Shops. 
• Apple Pay and Google Pay 
• The 50/50 Jackpot will also be accepting debit cards instead of cash. 

Lactation / Nursing Room

Breastfeeding moms will find a new Lactation / Nursing Room on the club level concourse behind Section 214. The private space offers amenities such as swivel chairs, a sink, changing table, and diaper pails.

Bag Policy

Attendees will be required to use clear bags or standard (non-clear bags) such as a small clutch purse smaller than 6.5 x 4.5. All other types must be clear and may be no larger than 12 x 6 x 12. All bags will be subject to a search.

Parking

Parking is available all around downtown El Paso, including the Civic Center Parking garage, the Union Plaza Transit parking lot, the Kansas Parking facility, the Parking Garage off Oregon near San Jacinto Plaza, and the Cortez Garage. Attendees might also consider jumping on board the El Paso Streetcar for a free ride or Sun Metro.
