There are plenty of TV shows I love, but I can't say any of them have ever convinced me to pack up my entire life and move 4,500 miles away.

One Texas couple, however, is doing exactly that.

Jeff and Janice Ivey are trading Texas for Wrexham, Wales, after falling in love with the city they first discovered through "Welcome to Wrexham." And somehow, this entire story involves Ryan Reynolds, seven trips across the Atlantic and one missing hoodie.

Texas Couple Is Moving to Wrexham After Watching the Hit Show

Jeff and Janice first learned about Wrexham through "Welcome to Wrexham," the docuseries following the Welsh soccer club purchased by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac in 2020.

But watching from Texas wasn't enough. The couple eventually visited Wrexham seven times in just two and a half years. During one trip, they even stayed for an entire month to see what actually living there might be like.

Turns out, they loved it.

Jeff is already in Wales looking for a house, while Janice remains in Texas to sell their home and wait for her visa.

And, naturally, Ryan Reynolds noticed. After seeing the BBC's story about the couple, in true Ryan Reynolds style, he had a joke to share about the news:

Fair point.

But the strangest part of their Wrexham story might actually be how it all started.

A Missing Hoodie Helped Bring the Texas Couple to Wrexham

Yes. A hoodie.

The Iveys ordered merchandise from the Declan Swans, a Wrexham band featured on the show, but their package arrived one hoodie short. Jeff emailed the band about the missing item, they sent it over and the two sides struck up an unexpected pen-pal friendship.

Eventually, singer Michael Hett suggested they come visit Wrexham themselves.

One missing hoodie later, and these two Texans are preparing to move across the Atlantic! That's one heck of a customer service story.

'Welcome to Wrexham' Helped the Couple Find a New Community

Despite discovering Wrexham through the show, the Iveys say they're not moving there just because of the soccer club. They fell in love with the community.

There's even a little bit of home waiting for them across the pond. Janice grew up in a Pennsylvania mining town, while Jeff is originally from Pittsburgh, and Wrexham's own mining history reminded them of where they came from.

They've already started putting down roots, volunteering with the Wrexham Miners Project and supporting a children's hospice. Jeff is even learning Welsh and has put down a deposit on a Wrexham season ticket.

So maybe watching "Welcome to Wrexham" really can change your life. Although Ryan Reynolds is probably right about being a little more careful with what you binge-watch next.
