These Texas Entertainment Venues Can Hold Entire Cities
Everybody knows that things are bigger in Texas, right? For all the doubters out there, here's yet another example of lone star state large.
Texas has got all kinds of big stuff to brag about starting with our overall size. We're the 2nd biggest state in the USA, behind Alaska.
We also have huge military installations and big, world record holding boots as well. Even our food portions are monstrous ... the very list of our big things is "big". Now, here's one more thing Texas can add to it - entertainment venues.
When it comes to football, Texas doesn't mess around which has led to some monster stadiums capable of holding a whole cities worth of people. For example, Darrell K. Royal Stadium seats 100,119 Texans and Kyle Field holds 102,733.
It will be a little tight but Wichita Falls, (102,691) could squeeze into either one while all 99,262 San Angelo-ans would be comfy.
We have a racetrack ... Circuit Of The Americas ... that seats 120,000. Of all Texas cities, ranked by population, That would hold all the residents of EACH city in Texas after #32. The farther down you go, the more cities you could combine and still fit.
Even Texas venues meant strictly for live entertainment are freakin' huge. Check out these figures from statesman.com:
- Palmer Events Center (70,000): This multi-use venue is an almost exact match for the upscale Fort Worth suburb of North Richland Hills (70,658).
- Moody Center (15,000): Iowa Colony (14,823), West University Place (14,791) or Hereford (14,752).
Billy Bob's Texas, basically a REEEEAAAALLLY big bar in Fort Worth, holds 6K. That would cover Texas cities #1, (Hillside Acres, population 7) through #385 - Homestead Meadows North, population 5,987.
