Another Local Filmmaker Is Racking Up Awards

This time around, a Western is making an El Paso filmmaker shine.

A film by El Pasoan Frank Powers, titled Brothers James: Retribution, recently won the award for "Best Western Feature Film" at the 2019 Marina Del Rey Film Festival. The movie was filmed in and around El Paso and Las Cruces, using local actors and crew members.

Comfortable behind the camera, Frank has also spent plenty of time in front of it. According to his IMDb bio, he's had background roles in Terminator Salvation and:

The Avengers as a Shield Agent, Lone Survivor as a Navy Seal, Men who Stare at Goats as a Soldier, etc... Then small speaking roles that eventually lead to Starring roles and the Lead of Feature Films Such as American War Fighter, Foster Home Seance, Radio Silence, Brothers James: Retribution and Beaten

That last one, Beaten, has also won its' own awards. It was directed and produced by El Pasoan Arturo Portillo and was filmed locally.
