Local Filmmaker Keeps Stacking Up Awards!

Beaten, a film by local filmmaker Arturo Portillo, has a few new awards to its credit!

Beaten almost immediately started raising eyebrows upon its release and was even  nominated for an award at the legendary Cannes Film Festival! Most recently, the film picked up several awards at the Mindfield Film Festival.

Here is the announcement Arturo posted on Facebook:

WOW! Beaten - The Movie just won 7 awards in the Mindfield Film Festival • Albuquerque! Silver Award for Best Actor for Frank Powers and Silver Award for Best Supporting Actor for Hector Dez. It also won 3 Gold Awards for Best Feature Film, Director and Screenwriting and 2 Diamond Awards for Best Editing and Best Cinematography! This is more than a dream come true!

The film is about a hired hitman who seeks to avenge the death of his fiancée when she is gunned down in a crossfire aimed at her brother, Redd; who the hitman teams up with later on. It was filmed in El Paso, using local talent and crews.
