A Lucky El Paso Fan Got To Party With YouTube Superstars
Seeing a live show is one thing, BEING on stage at a live show or MEETING our favorite celebrities, that's a whole 'nother feeling! We've seen some lucky El Paso fans be on stage before, like the one fan who got to shred with Hollywood Undead or the Metallica fan who got to be in one of their music videos.
Well another El Paso fan got to appear on stage during a 2019 show for the Game Grumps back in Albuquerque, New Mexico & earlier in 2017.
If you're unfamiliar with the Game Grumps, they're a YouTube channel (Arin Hanson & Dan Avidan) that started back in 2012, where they play video games for entertainment. They currently have over 5 million YouTube subscribers & musical side project called Starbomb, where they make video game parodies with their other musical partner, Brian Wecht.
If you saw my article on artists who recorded albums in El Paso, then you know they've recorded at Sonic Ranch before in 2017 (the album would later be released in 2019).
What you probably DIDN'T know, was that they stayed a little longer in town during the recording of their TryForce album. They attended a special screening of Thor: Ragnarok at Alamo Drafthouse. There is where we meet the lucky El Pasoan who got to meet them at that screening: Meet Alex Bull.
Alex is a technical theater teacher who works for YISD. And yes that is a photo of him with Brian Wecht & Arin Hanson (wearing an El Paso Community College hoodie) of Game Grumps/Starbomb. He was lucky enough to meet them here in El Paso & he got to see them in 2019 at a live show in ABQ. But he didn't JUST meet them... he got to appear on stage with them to play Mario Party in front of a live audience.
And there IS video footage too. If you go to the 29 minute mark, you can find our friend Alex having a grand time.
So far the Game Grumps haven't come back to El Paso since they recorded in 2017. But if they DO come back. they have fans here who are dying to see them again.
