With school back in session, sometimes you need a place to unwind or let off some steam. Especially in college; sometimes the college life can be stressful & exhausting. Joanna already wrote about some favorite hangout spots for high schoolers. So here are some suggestions on where to go for college students.

Rubik's/Mad Hatter:

Just a short drive down on Mesa from UTEP, you can find 2 spots absolutely worth checking out. The arcade bar Rubiks has a ton of arcade games & they host a lot of specialty/trivia nights every night. Right next door is The Mad Hatter Pub & Grub; fans of Alice In Wonderland would definitely get a kick out of this place.

Monarch/Prickly Elder:

Located around Downtown El Paso, Monarch was always a great spot to go after class for a drink & to enjoy karaoke. It's also right next to Prickly Elder just in case you wanted something a little smaller but still enjoyable. Occasionally bands will perform, there's food trucks & if you have a craving for chocolate, Ixcacao is just a short walk away.

Hope & Anchor/Sabertooth:

Another area that's a short drive from UTEP, this an area that definitely gets busy over the weekends. Hope & Anchor is a nice relaxing bar for when you just want to enjoy a night out after you finish class (or work). And if you want food, Sabertooth is literally right next door.

The Lowbrow Palace:  I remembered going to the old location right off of Mesa & seeing some fantastic shows (I also remember performing there a few times). It was absolutley one of the best hangout spots in El Paso. Even thought the old location is gone, it is still around in El Paso, 1006 Texas Avenue.

Downtown El Paso:

Who doesn't love exploring Downtown El Paso? And where to start? You have the Plaza, the ballpark, the Coffee Box, The Pizza Joint, the ghost tours, all the old historic buildings... you have plenty of options to choose from.

Cielo Vista/Fountains at Farah:

While it's true that malls aren't as popular as they were back in the 80s or 90s; that doesn't diminish the fact that tons of people still love going. You have Sunland Park & The Outlet Malls as well but if you were going to pick which mall to go to, it's either between Cielo Vista or The Fountains based on the variety of places. So that's why I chose both of them here.

El Paso Rage Rooms:

Let's be honest...we've had a day where we get SO STRESSED OUT you just want to break something. Well doing that at work or school is a terrible idea. So why not go to a place where you're ENCOURAGED to break something? We have two in town; Roaring Rage & House of Rage. Both places are open for anyone who needs to let off some steam and vent your frustrations out. Hey better freaking out here then in front of your boss or on the road right??

Other areas I'd recommend are the many areas on Cincinnati Ave, Scenic Drive & Ascarate Park.
