Move over, Austin. El Paso is getting in on the bat scene too!

Austin may be famous for crowds gathering to watch thousands of bats take flight, but seeing something like that in El Paso? That's definitely not something you expect to find on your evening stroll through Downtown.

Yet, just in time for spooky season, a surprisingly long line of bats was spotted flying through the Downtown El Paso sky.

And now I have questions. Mainly, how long have these guys just been hanging around Downtown?!

Bats Take Flight Over Downtown El Paso

Maya Isabella Photography was doing some street photography near San Jacinto Plaza when something flying overhead caught everyone's attention.

Bats. A LOT of them.

According to Maya, they noticed the bats at around 7:15 p.m., and they continued flying overhead for several minutes.

I'm sure plenty of El Pasoans have one question now: How long have they been living Downtown?

This Is Not Something You See Every Day in El Paso

Now, we certainly have bats in the Borderland, and one very famous one named Ozzy, but seeing this many streaming through the middle of Downtown El Paso is a pretty unexpected sight.

You can set your sights on these little fellas around sunset around Mesa and Mills.

Austin has turned watching its famous bats take flight into an entire event. Meanwhile, some El Pasoans were just trying to enjoy an evening Downtown and accidentally stumbled into our own little bat show.
