UTEP Basketball Games Pushed Due to Weather Concerns
Citing concerns with travel due to the winter storm that hit the southern states this week, both UTEP men's and women's basketball games against Florida Atlantic have been pushed from their original Friday-Saturday games.
Instead, the UTEP men's basketball team will play a Sunday (3:00 PM MT) and Monday (4:00 PM MT) series in Boca Raton, while the women's squad will host FAU at the Haskins Center on Sunday (2:00 PM MT) and Monday (7:00 PM MT).
Both of the men's games will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard on 600 ESPN El Paso. In addition, the women's contest on Monday can be heard on 600 ESPN El Paso following the men's game.
The men's team hasn't experienced a cancelation or postponement throughout C-USA play thus far. Their last canceled game on Dec. 28 when they were supposed to host Our Lady of the Lake, which was canceled due to COVID-19 complications within the visiting team's locker room. FAU had two C-USA series canceled (Marshall and Western Kentucky), and barely got back to the hardwood last week against UTSA, losing both games of the series. They have only played in eight league games, compared to most teams that have played close to 14 C-USA games thus far.
UTEP (10-10, 6-8 C-USA) had lost five straight road games going into the FAU series while having won back-to-back games against Florida International at home last weekend.
Similar to the men's team, the women's squad hasn't had many canceled or postponements all year. Their last cancelation came against Sam Houston State (Dec. 5), and the team has played all 14 C-USA games thus far. They have won nine straight games going into their home series against FAU.
