Less than 24 hours after the Miners suffered a meltdown in the final minutes, losing 74-66 (OT) in their C-USA opener, the team found redemption by dominating the Golden Eagles, 77-62, on Saturday and splitting the series.

They led by as much as eight points by the 6:50 mark in the opening half, while the Golden Eagles scrapped back to make it a one-point UTEP lead at the half, 30-29.
