Truckers and commercial drivers spend a lot of time on the road and they're required to stop after a certain number of hours. This driver picked a bad spot to rest in Texas ...

A book of scary trucker stories, appropriately titled "Trucker Ghost Stories", by Annie Wilder contains several tales of haunted highways across the USA as told by the drivers who use them.

Texas always has to go one better so, no ghost in this story. Ours has a demon ...

According to "Trucker Ghost Stories", George Stern Sr. was hauling mulch in Texas taken from a road that, (of course), was said to be built on an ancient Indian burial ground.

When his drive time was up, he pulled over and went to sleep in his truck. It got noisy outside where the wind was blowing so hard he could feel his truck moving. Over the windy din, he started to hear voices and then it got super creepy ...

Trying to ignore it, George settled down until he felt a hand come through his side window and touch him on the head. George threw his elbows around to defend himself and remove the hand from his head when the feeling of the touch went away. After laying back down he felt a heavy weight on top of him. George screamed aloud and saw his curtains suddenly move. - commercialtrucktrader.com

I got that from a secondary source so, I don't know if "Trucker Ghost Stories" actually names the highway. This continued for several nights until Stern bought a copy of "The Passion Of The Christ" to watch at night.
