Leatherface Gives ‘Choosin’ Texas’ a Strange New Twist
If you've been anywhere near social media lately, there's a pretty good chance Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" has found its way onto your feed.
And even though I'm not usually a big fan of newer country, I have to admit: this song is AMAZING! It’s literally EVERYWHERE. But just when I thought I'd seen every possible video set to "Choosin' Texas," the internet found a way to bring the song into my world.
All it took was a Leatherface mask, a chainsaw and one of the most iconic endings in Texas horror history.
Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' Has Become a Massive Hit
Actually, calling "Choosin' Texas" popular might actually be underselling it.
The Ella Langley song has spent an incredible 18 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the biggest country crossover hits in years. And like any song that gets this big, "Choosin' Texas" has also been absolutely unavoidable on social media.
People have used it for everything from relationship videos to Texas-themed posts, but my favorite version of the trend might be the one that somehow involves a horror movie from 1974.
Because of course the internet heard a song called "Choosin' Texas" and eventually thought of Leatherface.

Leatherface Gives the 'Choosin' Texas' Trend a Horror Twist
If you've seen The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you probably already know where this is going.
At the end of the original movie, Leatherface stands in the middle of the road wildly swinging his chainsaw through the air as the lone survivor escapes. It's creepy. It's chaotic. It's iconic.
And now people on TikTok and Instagram are recreating that famous moment while "Choosin' Texas" plays in the background.
That's it. That's the trend.
Put on a Leatherface mask, grab a chainsaw- preferably one that cannot actually remove any limbs- and give us your best Leatherface chainsaw dance!
I don't know who first looked at one of the biggest country songs in America and thought, "You know what this needs? Leatherface aggressively swinging a chainsaw around." But I respect the vision.
Also, kind of angry at myself for not thinking about it first!
Spirit Halloween Could Make the Leatherface Trend Even Bigger
The timing couldn't be better either, because Spirit Halloween stores are opening for the season.
That means Leatherface masks and Texas Chainsaw Massacre costumes are about to become a whole lot easier to find for anyone suddenly inspired to recreate the trend.

And considering we're still months away from Halloween, I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Leatherface "choosin' Texas."
As a Texas horror fan, I'm totally fine with that. But maybe don’t really use a chainsaw!
