Now that the UTEP men's basketball roster is starting to take shape for the fall, let's catch up with the nine players that departed from the program earlier this offseason.

Only three former Miners—forward Bonke Maring and guards Kezza Giffa and Cam Clardy—haven't announced where they will be transferring to. The Miners saw nine players hit the transfer portal, along with Jamal Bieniemy (intentions to play professionally) and Alfred Hollins (graduate) not returning next season.

Let's jump into the details about the seven transfers and their next landing spot:

Souley Boum - Xavier

The former Conference USA leading scorer and two-time all C-USA selection in Souley Boum found his new home at Xavier with head coach Sean Miller. As Xavier had a few departures from their backcourt, Boum will have an excellent opportunity to help them immediately. Boum averaged 19.9 points on 41% shooting from the field in 2021-22.

Keonte Kennedy - Vanderbilt

Keonte Kennedy became the second Miner to announce his transfer intentions to a Power-5 school, as the Austin native committed to Vanderbilt. Kennedy averaged 14.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals for the Miners this past season, which also included missing a majority of C-USA play due to a foot fracture. Now, Kennedy will have a chance to play in the SEC among some of the best competition in college basketball.

Tydus Verhoeven - Northwestern

After three productive seasons at UTEP, Tydus Verhoeven is headed to the Big Ten. Verhoeven will join Northwestern as someone that's averaged 6.6 points and 4.6 rebounds across his career. The Wildcats went 15-16 overall last year and 7-13 in conference play.

Christian Agnew - SE Louisiana

Christian Agnew is headed back to the Southland Conference as he will be transferring to Southeastern Louisana. At UTEP, Agnew's most productive season came last year where he averaged 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds. Before UTEP, he was a double-digit scorer at North Alabama from 2018-20.

Jorell Saterfield - Portland State

Following just one season with the Miners, Jorell Saterfield is headed to Portland State. Saterfield thrives on the perimeter, as he shot nearly 44% from 3-point range for the Miners. He also averaged 5.7 points and 1.8 rebounds for UTEP this past year. Saterfield will join a Vikings coaching staff that includes Jamaal Williams, who coached Saterfield for a season in high school.

Emmanuel White - Western New Mexico

Emmanuel White will aim to get more playing time by dropping down to the Division II level and play for Western New Mexico. White played in 26 games for the Miners in 2021-22, where he logged in 8.6 minutes off the bench. He shot 39% from the field and went 35% from 3-point range.
