The words "dive bar " can be a bad thing to some people, or it can mean a 'diamond in the rough' to others! Like me!

Judging by some of the bar names in town being a dive is a fashionable thing these days probably because of Guy Fieri and his, "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" television show.

While the internet and Yelp suggest their own lists of best dive bars, I have personally been to the ones listed below to make my list.

Teclos

For people who are more in the mood for a Tejano dive bar, this is the perfect place for you. Or in Spanish and enjoy the cheap beer prices and the wonderful ranchera music.

Graham's Corner

For many years Graham's Corner has been a staple of the West Side bar scene. Tucked away in a shopping center by Sunland Park you can find dim lighting, a cozy atmosphere, and of course the telltale beer discounts.

Lloyd's Pub

Another west side bar staple, this place screams dive bar, or should I say it at least smells like it. With a private smoking room enjoy the circular bar and the pleasant staff.

The Tap

Famous for their nachos and other food items no trip to El Paso's downtown would be complete without a visit to The Tap. And as their name implies they have beers, lots of them.

Rosa's Cantina

The famous bar is forever commemorated in the Marty Robbins song "El Paso," Rosas Cantina well not strictly as underground as most dive bars would be is still a wonderful dive to grab a drink or have a taco.

Coconuts

To me, the forever classic and model for dive bars Coconuts Bar is where I honed a lot of my comedy in my beginning years. Not every place has great beer specials beautiful bartenders and the potential for a beer thrown at you at any second.

Kings X

This place is iconic to the point where people who had their very first drink after turning 21 are very likely still sitting at the bar at 61. It's also connected to the legendary Lucy's Cafe, known for its machaca plate and burrito (trust me), and is well worth the visit alone.

Incredibles

It definitely lives up to its name because this place is an incredible dive bar. It has everything. The nondescript signage the sketchy area the super dim lighting, the busty barmaid inside, and the crusty smokers outside. No food, just drinks. I love this place and I can think to my good friend Iggy Samaniego for introducing me

Rock House

I don't say this just because a lot of bands on the radio also play at this venue, but this is one of the best bar/live music venues El Paso has to offer. Plus it's got an amazing dive bar/grunge-like atmosphere that makes it an experience to go to.

As you might be able to tell in my past life of bar-hopping and telling jokes at dive bars I've become well acquainted with the El Paso bar scene.

If you're looking for some adventure or just a new place to visit and have a drink you should definitely consider each one of the places on this list. And then invite me!
