While videoconferencing apps are seeing a spike in downloads, TikTok is not far behind. For many out there, quarantine is seeing more and more people download TikTok. Because more are staying home, TikTok is seeing more families participate in TikTok trends. While I already had TikTok, it makes me happy to see such new content on the app, and I especially love when all the family participates in a TikTok, I have yet to convince my family to do one with me. With so many trends popping up on the app, one in particular prompted me to try it right away; whipped coffee!

After it popped up on my "For You" page I knew I had to give it a whirl. A quick search on TikTok will show you tons of results and  how to easily make the coffee. Originating in South Korea, whipped coffee or "dalgona coffee" is similar to the Greek Frappe, and I've also seen Cubans mention that they have a similar drink. It's simple to make; two tablespoons instant coffee, two tablespoons sugar and two tablespoons hot water. After adding the ingredients to a bowl you whip and whip (whip it good) until you get a creamy, frothy consistency. Then you add it to milk, hot or cold but preferably iced milk and mix and it is a mouth explosion! You can of course substitute the sugar to an alternative sweetener of your choice, and the milk could be substituted as well.

I substituted regular milk for almond milk, and also added a splash of my favorite coffee creamer and it is just exquisite mouth feels. Because it worked so well with coffee, I was emboldened to try it with matcha, and trust me, you should give that a try too if coffee isn't for you. If not going to your regular coffee shop has given you the blues, try this instead and it will make you feel like a barista in your own home! Thank you TikTok for introducing me to this wonderful treat! If you give it a try, let me know how you like it!
