If it's on TikTok, then you know it has to be dumb. What was supposed to be a silly TikTok prank in Texas ended in pure chaos when a 58-year-old man pulled out a gun and fired at a car full of teenagers. The teens were just “ding, dong, ditching” for laughs but instead of rolling his eyes, police say the homeowner rolled out bullets, landing himself in jail and facing serious felony charges.

Ding Dong Ditch & The Door Kick Challenge Spread in Texas

Ding dong ditch is supposed to be goofy and harmless- and at times, annoying, unless you’re in Frisco, Texas, where police say the game turned dangerous. This story comes after it was reported that the “door kick” challenge had been spreading across the Lone Star state.

According to investigators, the teens had been hopping around a neighborhood pulling the prank late at night when Damon Wolfe thought someone was trying to break into his home. Instead of just yelling or calling the cops, police say Wolfe grabbed a gun, ran outside, and fired several rounds at their car as they drove off. Luckily, no one was hit.

Police later tracked down the teens, who admitted they’d been out “ding, dong, ditching” just for fun. What they didn’t expect was to be dodging bullets. Detectives collected the car, which had three bullet holes, and quickly pieced together what happened.

That’s when the story flipped from silly prank to serious crime. Wolfe was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault- one for each teen in the car. In Texas, that charge is a second-degree felony, which means he could be looking at 2 to 20 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.

Frisco Police Chief David Shilson didn’t mince words, calling the entire situation “senseless and avoidable.” He urged parents to remind kids that viral challenges can be risky, and also reminded homeowners that “running outside and shooting at a vehicle” is not exactly the right way to handle things.

In the end, nobody was hurt, but things could have turned out much worse. Police say the bullets could have easily hit neighbors’ homes, or worse, the teens themselves. What started as a quick TikTok stunt is now a cautionary tale for both pranksters and homeowners: some challenges aren’t worth the clout, and firing a gun is never the answer.

As for Wolfe, he’s facing felony charges and a possible long stretch behind bars. And for the teens? Let’s just say this TikTok trend ended with more police lights than likes.
