It's annoying and it's now leading to serious consequences, and it's all thanks to TIkTok. Sometimes, I don't even know how these weird TikTok pranks even begin! Now, because of a dumb TikTok trend, two teens were arrested in Kyle, Texas.

According to the Kyle Police Department, two teens aged 19 and 18, were arrested after they attempted to prank two young kids walking home from school, asking them if they wanted to be kidnapped.

Dumb, right?

The suspects, 19-year-old Kaine Villarreal and 18-year-old Lane Burch were arrested on charges of terroristic threat.

This "kidnapping" trend sees individuals go up to younger children asking if they want to be kidnapped; and while it would seem as though no actual kidnapping will actually happen, it's important to remember that in Texas, even a prank that involves a threat or potential threat to a person or property is illegal.

Luckily, the children weren't harmed and the arrests may lead to others thinking twice before doing something dumb like this, but it is alarming to see the rise of so many dumb TikTok trends/pranks.

Back in October we learned of a different TikTok trend that was causing actual damage to homes in San Antonio. That prank was called the "door kick" challenge. It's basically a new take on "ding dong ditch"- but a little bit more extreme.

Anytime you hear the words "TikTok" and "challenge" in the same sentence, you already know that it won't end well. Police nationwide are encouraging parents to speak to their teens about the dangers and potential criminal charges associated with participating in any TikTok trend.
