These Former UTEP Miners Are Making a Playoff Push in the 2024-2025 NFL Season
Before the 2024-25 NFL season, we talked about the huge amount of former UTEP Miners football players that would be present in the new NFL season. As the regular season has come to an end, you'll be surprised to know that their are multiple former UTEP Miners that DID make the playoffs this season. Yes you read that correctly: MinerS.
There are more than one former Miner football players in the playoffs. Let's first talk about the one that we already know about...
Aaron Jones has made the playoffs in the first season as a Minnesota Viking
It's still crazy to see Aaron Jones NOT wear a Green Bay Packers jersey but that doesn't matter this year as #33 will once again make the post season. This time as a Viking. Aaron has had a stellar year in the first season for Minnesota; he's totaled over 1,000 rushing yards & scored at least 5 touchdowns during the regular season. Every time he's scored a touchdown, he's given his trademark "9-1-5" celebrations afterwards too.
Without a doubt Aaron Jones is the most famous former UTEP Miner in the NFL but he's not the only one in the NFC...
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers also have a former UTEP Miner on their team
For the 4th straight season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers clinched the NFC South title with a 10-5 record. Before the season got started, it was revealed that Elijah Klein, the former offensive lineman for the Miners, would be part of the team.
While he hasn't played many games for the Bucs, he IS on their roster and has made some appearances in the pre-season and against the Falcons earlier in October. This makes the Bucs the 2nd team to have a former Miner to make the post season.
