The Beatles’ Famous Crossing Recreated At Pride Square In El Paso
A local photographer has recreated The Beatles' most famous album cover featuring Pride Square in downtown El Paso.
Local photographer Ruben Gomez, the owner of El Paso's Finest, was inspired by a friend who suggested he tinker with the popular image of The Beatles walking across the zebra crosswalk outside Abbey Road Studios.
The famous image taken by photographer Iain Macmillan features John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr walking across the zebra crosswalk, which ended up being the album cover photo for The Beatles' eleventh studio album, Abbey Road.
Over five decades later, the album photo is just as famous as the album itself, becoming one of the most recognized and imitated in the world, with half a million fans visiting the site in London yearly.
In celebration of Pride Month and with a little help from his friend, Ruben Gomez decided to recreate the iconic image by superimposing The Beatles as they walk across the new Pride Square rainbow-striped crosswalk in downtown El Paso.
Want A Copy? Ruben Gomez plans to give away copies of the colorful image and tells me that he doesn't want to profit off Pride Month but would instead give out the posters and help spread the message of love and peace.
The 12X18 poster prints will be given away along with another image of Pride Square tomorrow exclusively at El Paso's Finest.
Posters will be available while supplies last - one per person and you might want to arrive early because these prints will surely go fast.
El Paso's Finest is a shop that features artwork, photography, jewelry, apparel, skincare, and more, created by local artists only.
El Paso's Finest is located inside the Cortez Building across from San Jacinto Plaza at 314 N. Mesa, 79901.
