Texas Legends Reverend Horton Heat Set To Give El Paso A Show
The new year is upon us & this the time to get excited for concerts coming to El Paso. We might be a city of rock & metal, but we have a huge rockabilly scene here too. (Just look at past festivals like the Great American Rockabilly Riot).
One of the biggest, if not THE biggest, rockabilly band in the world has to be Dallas's Reverend Horton Heat. They've been been around since 1985, led by legendary guitarist, Jim Heath. He's been called "the godfather of modern rockabilliy & psychobilly". As a result, The Reverend Horton Heat has become a huge staple in the Texas music scene.
They're certainly no stranger to having their music be used in popular media either; their music has been used in movies like Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Love & a .45
Or in television. Fans of Dexter: New Blood or will remember their song Baddest of the Bad make an appearance in Episode 8,
If you're a fan of video games like Guitar Hero II & Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, you'll definitely recognize their songs Psychobilly Freakout & I Can't Surf.
The Reverend Horton Heat will be coming to The Rockhouse, 9828 Montana, on February 5th, along with The Surfrajettes. There will be local bands announced later.
This will mark the 6th the rockabilly legends will have come to El Paso; ranging all the way back since 2002. The latest being 2016 at Ascarate Park.
The show will start at 6:30pm & you can get your tickets for the show right here.
