Remember When ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ Jammed to These Texas Bands
90s fans will remember Beavis & Butt-Head. For many bands, being featured on the show was a BIG deal. They can either truly MAKE or BREAK your band just by being talked about by those two (Just ask White Zombie or Winger). Those who have seen the show know there were many bands from Texas whose videos have been featured on the show. Thanks to Rate Your Music uploading an entire list of all the music videos who have appeared on the show, we know exactly which ones have.
Pantera has appeared 4 times on Beavis & Butt-Head
The boys from Arlington, Pantera was MUCH loved by Beavis & Butt-Head. They had the most appearances for a single Texas band;
- Psycho Holiday appeared in Season 2, Episode 10
- Mouth For War (Season 3, Episode 14)
- I'm Broken (Season 4, Episode 22)
- and This Love (Season 5, Episode 12)
Butthole Surfers have appeared twice
Another band that received HIGH praise were the Austin boys in the Butthole Surfers.
- Who Was in My Room Last Night (Season 2, Episode 13)
- Dust Devil (Season 2, Episode 20)
D.R.I. made a single appearance in Season 2
The Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (aka D.R.I.) from Houston had their song "Acid Rain" appear in Episode 19 in Season 2. For a band that couldn't get much airplay for their videos, this definitely helped the band get a wider reach.
ZZ Top made two appearances
The smallest big band from Texas was the very FIRST band to represent the Lone Star State on Beavis & Butt-Head
- Legs/Bad Girl (Season 2, Episode 3)
- Viva Las Vegas (Season 3, Episode 10)
The Reverend Horton Heat made two appearances
The most known rockabilly group from Dallas, The Reverend Horton Heat had some trippy music videos & they were loved by Beavis in particular.
- Wiggle Stick (Season 4, Episode 3)
- Psychobilly Freakout (Season 5, Episode 25)
The Fabulous Thunderbirds have appeared once
The Austin blues rock band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds had their music video for "Wrap It Up" loved by the boys. Although I think something else was loved more than just the music...
The Toadies had one song appear twice
The final band to represent Texas was Fort Worth's The Toadies. They were also the only band to have a song appeared TWICE on 2 episodes; Possum Kingdom appeared in the 6th episode for Season 6 & 7.
We haven't seen a Texas band appear on Beavis & Butt-Head since the 90s; if the show continues to release episodes, hopefully we can see more videos from either classic artists or newer bands appear. You never know how much that can help their careers.
