Since 1878, the Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas is still oldest music & dance venue in the entire state. Some of the biggest names in rock & country have performed here; like Willie Nelson, Gregg Allman, George Strait and many others. Turns out that concerts weren't the only big events that happened here; you might've seen the Gruene Hall appear in some big Hollywood movies too.

The Gruene Hall starred in a John Travolta movie

If you watched the 1996 film, Michael, then you seeing remember that iconic dance scene with John in his giant brown coat. That scene WAS shot inside the Gruene Hall.

The Gruene Hall also makes an appearance in the 2006 film, Coyote Funeral

The movie follows a country singer, Casey Cannon, that is determined to go to El Paso after seeing a sign that reads "857 miles to El Paso". The Gruene Hall is actually used in many scenes in the movie; it's listed in the movie's IMDB page as well as mentioned in the official trailer for the movie.

The Gruene Hall has also appeared in countless music videos & albums

Oh yeah, a building with such history behind it, OF COURSE it was gonna be used in music videos too! Wade Hayes shot the music video for "Old Enough to Know Better" inside the Gruene Hall in 1994.

Scott McCreery shot the video for his song, "Damn Strait" in 2022 at the Gruene Hall. That song became a #1 hit for Scott.

George Strait would include many photos of the Gruene Hall inside the linear notes for his 2009 album, Twang. Artists like Jerry Jeff Walker, LeAnn Rimes & ZZ Top have all recorded live albums at the Gruene Hall; ZZ Top would film many of the performances for their documentary "That Little 'ol Band from Texas").

The Gruene Hall will forever be a staple in Texas' history & hopefully more artists will continue to show its legacy to the world.
