Texas Wants To Bomb The State With Flies To Stop Flesh Eating Maggots
Fly bombs Vs. flesh eating maggots I know, it sounds like the plot to an especially, extra bad, "B" ... "C" - "F" maybe ... level horror movie but it's a legit plan to save Texas.
On top of things like creepy zombie wells, disgusting zombie watermelons, snake sized worms and a bug that lays an egg in its prey and then watches them die a slow, painful death as the young 'un eats its way out; Texas now has flesh eating maggots. 'Cuz, why not?
If you think that maggot thing is bad, wait 'til you hear what the plan to get rid of them is ...
So, here's the deal. I'm not kidding, by the way, a "Fly Factory" is being built in Mexico and should be operational by 2026. In it, flies will be sterilized, (by radiation if your first question, as was mine, is "how will they do that"?), and released to screw up the screworms reproductive cycle.
'Cuz, why not? I mean, I don't care for flesh eating maggots any more than the next guy. They are super disgusting. (I mean seriously, even PETA wouldn't get behind these things.) This "irradiate and eradicate" thing seems a little out there though.
What Is A Fly Bomb?
It's not actually a bomb and I hope this plan isn't a bomb either, (although that joke kinda was), they're just going to drop a ton of them over Texas.
The USDA informed FOX News Digital that the government will breed millions of flies to target the flesh-eating larvae of the New World Screwworm (NWS) fly. These flies will be sterilized with radiation before being released from airplanes over Texas and Mexico. - foxnews

I just hope this works but, mostly, I worry about the side effects. We've seen what a little radiation does to lizards and spiders. (You saw Godzilla and Spiderman, right?) We don't need overgrown, radioactive waste spewing, flies buzzing around.
Although, being able to tie up bae in a (literally), hand made web might be fun.
