Former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing recently took to his official blog to write about his personal contribution to Geoff Tate's Queensryche's new album, 'Frequency Unknown.' Much criticism and controversy is currently whirling around the head of Tate, and Downing addresses his reasoning for the new collaboration, along with a funny story about nearly being killed by a couch.

A little constructive criticism never hurts, but Geoff Tate is ready to confront some full-on hate head-on with a new contest. The Queensryche frontman and his reconstructed lineup are now promoting their latest effort, 'Frequency Unknown,' and have launched an interesting competition in which they're challenging haters to stand up for their opinion and film a rant about the album.

To ease the confusion from here on out, I think I'll refer to the Geoff Tate Queensryche as "Queensryche" and the "everybody else but Geoff" version as Queensryche 2.0.

Now that the rest of the band and Geoff Tate have gone their separate ways, and the court has ruled that both entities can use the name Queensryche, which one are you interested in more? They're both working right now, one version on new music, the other on a sort of nostalgia tour.

Geoff Tate has yet to play his first gig with his newly created Queensryche lineup and already he's down one member. Tate revealed earlier this year that former Megadeth and King Diamond guitarist Glen Drover would be part of his version of the band, but Drover has just announced his exit.

Since the not-so-amicable split between singer Geoff Tate and the rest of Queensryche, the band recently recruited Crimson Glory vocalist Todd La Torre to front the band. Since his debut, La Torre has been accused of using Geoff Tate’s recorded vocals during live performances — an allegation which La Torre has now officially denied.

This Queensryche thing is getting uglier and uglier. A couple weeks ago, Geoff Tate launched an assault on the other members of Queensryche for kicking him out of the band. Last week I was talking on the air about Geoff Tate being ousted from Queensryche by the rest of the guys. They had formed a side band called Rising West with Todd La Torre from Crimson Glory and had done some shows. There were a lot of rumors flying around that Geoff was going to be out, and that he'd pulled a knife on Scott Rockenfield! What the heck is going on with Queensryche?
