The Six Restaurants I’d Like To See Be Added to the El Paso County Coliseum
If you've missed it: a couple of weeks ago, El Paso County officials discussed upgrading the El Paso County Coliseum after a real estate development consulting firm performed a study on the El Paso County Coliseum.
This study is in correlation with the proposed amphitheater for Ascarate Park- remember that? The changes proposed to the El Paso County Coliseum, according to the El Paso Times, would cost $54.1 and include:
...turning the adjacent Sherman Barn, now used for storage, into a boutique music venue with 1,500-2,000 seats, adding a second ice rink, and adding on-site restaurants.
While not all El Paso County officials are on board for a huge renovation of the El Paso County Coliseum- I think we can all agree it could use at least some improvements, right? And I do like the idea of adding on-site restaurants!
But what kind of restaurants would be on-site at the Coliseum? Well I can tell you what types I would like to see.
1. Pizza
Pizza is universally loved. It's delicious and it's mobile, which is perfect for a venue where you check out events. I would love to see a local pizza place like The Pizza Joint or House of Pizza at the Coliseum.
2. BBQ
This one feels like an obvious one. Barbeque food is great- especially when it's local like Desert Oak Barbeque. Yes, it's messy, but so worth it and definitely great food to accompany a festival.
3. Burgers
Like pizza, burgers are also universally loved and are also portable. Burgers and fries will always be a good option especially if it's a local place like Midnight Grill.
4. Tacos
I think this one is pretty self explanatory. Tacos are a MUST and El Paso has many different amazing local taco places that would be perfect for this development.
5. Desserts
A true foodie experience wouldn't be complete with some sweets! Ice cream, churros, and this delicious Fruity Pebbles covered ice cream ball from Cereal Killers!
7. Brewery
And an El Paso events center wouldn't be complete without beer. A brewery like Deadbeach, which offers some tasty local brews and tasty food, would be awesome.
The possibility of actually having on-site restaurants at the Coliseum is up in the air, but if we're going to do this then go big or go home!
