Sammy Hagar Lost $1 Million Worth Of Tequila In Texas
Rocker Sammy Hagar and Chef/TV Host Guy Fieri are co-owners of Santo Spirits tequila and they just lost a huge shipment of it to hijackers in Texas.
Hijackers in Laredo, Texas stole 2 trucks loaded with 440 cases of Santo Spirits tequila. Guy Fieri suspects that the theft may have been organized by someone trying to break the momentum he and Hagar have gained in the tequila world.
Fieri is offering $10K to anyone who can find the missing trucks. The impact of this is disastrous for Santo Spirits as tequila has to age ... some of their tequila ages for as long as 4 years ... so, replacing what was lost can't be done in time for the holidays.
The missing trucks were carrying 24,240 bottles of Santo Blanco and Reposado as well as a specially made Extra Añejo, which was created over the course of 39 months.
Hagar's rep said "it appears this was an organized crime effort where the trucks were illegally double brokered to different carriers who transferred the product to their trucks" after they crossed over the border from Mexico to Texas.
"For a growing company like Santo, it's really a shame for something like this to happen in the middle of our strongest year to date and right before the holidays!" Hagar said in a statement to Fox News Digital. - Fox News
Guy Fieri has hosted several tv shows including Diners, Drive Ins and Dives which once filmed several episodes here in El Paso. My favorite Diners, Drive Ins and Dives was filmed next door to KLAQ at Rulis International Kitchen.
You can watch it here.
Sammy Hagar, aka the "Red Rocker" got his start with Montrose. Since then he's enjoyed not only a helluva solo career but also did about a decade fronting Van Halen and has worked, since then, with Chickenfoot, HSAS and The Circle among others. He's also the founder of Cabo Wabo Tequila and owner of the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas.
