Red Cross Apologizes for ‘Racist Pool Poster’
In a world where everyone likes to take to social media to voice their opinion, no one is safe. The newest outrage comes from the America Red Cross and a pool safety poster they created. One Twitter user @JSawyer330 called out the American Red Cross for labeling the black kids "non-cool" and the white kids "cool."
JSawyer330 doesn't think that it's a coincidence that the "rowdy" kids are the only ones being singled out for their misbehavior in cartoon form. The American Red Cross responded to the accusation of creating a racist poster by tweeting back to @JSawyer.
Some people believe this poster was just another example of media reinforcing stereotypes of certain populations. It is just another debate that will be on social media for years.
