The Las Cruces Bulletin is accepting nominations for their 2021 "Best Of Mesilla Valley" list and a few area rock bands are in the running.

The Las Cruces Bulletin has announced nominees for their 2021 "Best Of Mesilla Valley" list but, before they can figure out who's best, they need some contenders. Several area attractions, events, people and places can now be nominated and a few local rock musicians/bands are in the running.

Some of the rockers nominated include Travis James Manning. He's opened for acts like Stephen Stills and Sammy Hagar and also played the KLAQ Ballonfest one year, before Sully Erna and Aranda. Travis is up for Best Male Vocalist and his band, Flat Blak, has been nominated for Best Rock Band. Also in the Best Rock Band category are one of my absolute favorite hard rock bands, Cordova. An article written about them once in the Nashville Music Guide said:

There’s not a true blue hard rock fan out there that won’t want to listen to more from this group. They are super talented in that vocals are solid and have depth, instrumentally they are probably one of the best rhythm sections out there today of up and coming artists.

CW Ayon was also nominated. "Coop" is really a blues musician but, his music can sorta "blur" the line between rock and blues so, not surprisingly, he was nominated twice. There are many others, in many different categories, I just wanted to highlight a couple of the rockers for you. See the entire list and cast your votes here.

LOCAL BANDS!! We are giving away studio time at Star City Studio and a video production package. Learn more and submit your entry now at KLAQ.com.
