#1 College Town In The USA Is In Texas
A recent WalletHub ranking named the top 10 college towns in the United States of America and Texas got the #1 spot.
WalletHub studied data on 415 cities to come up with their list of "best" college towns which they based on 3 key factors - cost of living, entertainment and quality of academics.
New Mexico didn't make the top 10 at all while Arizona got into it twice. Texas only had one city crack the top 10 but it hit the bullseye at numero uno.
Using info from a bunch of different sources including the U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, WalletHub defined the key judging categories mentioned above like this:
- Wallet friendliness: Considers factors such as a city’s housing costs, cost of higher education and share of rental units
- Social environment: Measures elements like the share of a city’s population between the ages of 18 and 35, nightlight options and number of festivals
- Academic and economic opportunities: Examines factors like the quality of higher education in the city, the earning potential of college grads and share of part-time jobs - cnbc.com
