The Austin-based group is known for re-imagining Mariachi standards and well-known rock songs with a fusion of metal, electronica, and the traditional Mariachi sound.

El Paso's Frontera Bugalú will be adding their mix of high-energy cumbia to the entertainment lineup which will also include Hip-Hop Chuco Queen Krystall Poppin.

Minerpalooza will be taking over the UTEP campus Friday, September 2, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. And you don’t have to be a UTEP student to attend; Minerpalooza is open to all of El Paso.

The part pep rally-part festival typically includes live music, carnival activities, and appearances by Paydirt Pete, the UTEP football team, cheer squads, and the UTEP band.

Adding to the party-like atmosphere is a beer and wine garden, as well as food trucks and food booths. Activities for the kids, such as games and inflatables inside Pete’s Playground will be part of the mix too.

Minerpalooza takes place in the parking lot of the Larry K. Durham Center at the corner of Glory Road and Sun Bowl Drive. Admission is free, but food, drinks and kid’s activities will cost you a few bucks.
